Choosing Fabric

If you wish to color your quilt like one of these samples, click on the image to download the fabric requirements. The yardages are the MINIMUM amount needed to piece the quilt. You should purchase extra fabric to allow for shrinkage and/or errors.

If you wish to make your very own color layout, the images below should help you sort out all the numbers to determine yardage requirements.

A Group Color Layout (Page 4)

B Group Color Layout (Page 8)

C Group Color Layout (Page 11)

To Do List:

  • Choose your fabric.
  • Cut a 1/2″ swatch strip from each fabric.
  • Glue your fabric swatches to the group swatch charts on pages 4, 8 and 11. Each swatch should be cut slightly shorter than 1″ to fit into the chart.

Optional: If you prefer to wash your fabric before cutting and piecing, now is the time to do that.

Pre-Cutting Fabric

Now you are ready to pre-cut your fabric into strips of the required sizes. Watch the short video below to see how it is done.

To Do List:

Use the information in the chart below to pre-cut all your fabric and place it in the proper bags.
