This lesson is all about fabric. The next video discusses fabric selection, fabric numbers and group color layouts. Additionally, it covers information about choosing fabrics and mapping fabrics to sections in the units. It also shows where the cutting instructions are listed for each group.

If you wish to color your quilt like one of these samples, click on the image to download the fabric requirements. The yardages are the MINIMUM amount needed to piece the quilt. You should purchase extra fabric to allow for shrinkage and/or errors.
If you wish to make your very own color layout, the images below should help you sort out all the numbers to determine yardage requirements.

To Do List:
Choose your fabric.
Cut a 1/2″ swatch strip from each fabric.
Glue your fabric swatches to the group swatch charts on pages 4, 8 and 11. Each swatch should be cut slightly shorter than 1″ to fit into the chart.
Optional: If you prefer to wash your fabric before cutting and piecing, now is the time to do that.
Now you are ready to pre-cut your fabric into strips of the required sizes. Watch the short video below to see how it is done.
