Pick A Petal Template of the Month Subscription Program
We are excited to announce that we will offer Jen Kingwell's appliqué and piecing Template of the Month program in 2025 - Pick a Petal - featuring her new fabric range with Moda called "Mixed Bag".
"I think Spring is my favourite season. After the grey days of winter, I get excited for the crisp mornings that shimmer with sunlight and hint at the warmth of Summer fast approaching.
My garden begins to explode with vibrant colours and as I watch the butterflies and bees dance among the blooms, I can't help but feel my heart stir with joy and hope.
When designing Pick A Petal (for the Quilt Show Mystery Quilt), I knew I wanted to capture the essence of Spring by weaving together the beauty and colour that this season brings to my world. Using a mix of hand piecing, needle-turn appliqué and a range of stitch techniques I began my journey to create Pick A Petal.
I love the way combining these techniques creates layers of detail and interest to a project.I embellished the appliqué borders with butterflies, flowers, and fruits to further evoke the spirit of Spring.
The inspiration from Spring extended beyond the quilt, sparking the creation of my new fabric ranges with Moda. I’ve recoloured these fabrics to perfectly complement the playful and whimsical feel of this design.
I’m known as a scrap quilter and so I knew I wanted my ‘Mixed Bag’ ranges to reflect this: The colour palette is bright and fun mixing a range of prints. I hope you enjoy this journey with me as much as I enjoyed the process of creating this design." - Jen Kingwell
Pick a Petal is a 6-month program that includes the templates, instructions (patterns) and fabric.
You will receive the following over the 6-month Template of the Month program:
- Acrylic and mylar templates and printed instructions
- Fabric for the quilt top
- Monthly hints and tips videos to help piece each block (via Jen's private group Facebook page)
- Free access to Jen's online hand piecing and appliqué classes for 12 months
Pick a Petal program fees:
- Non-refundable $5 registration fee
- $50 per month (in-store pickup) - templates, instructions and fabric
- The 6-month subscription program will run from June – December, 2025.
The Quilt Top finishes approximately 72 inches by 72 inches.
